EDI is the abbreviation of Electronic Data Interchange in English. It means “electronic data interchange” or electronic data trade. It is the data or information that will be standardized and formatted and exchanged through computer networks. Traditional trade can not be separated from all sorts of documents, and all of them are accounted for, checked, and settled. With the advent of EDI, all kinds of documents used in trade can be stored in electronic computers. Exchanges are replaced. All financial procedures handled by human intervention can also be completed by an electronic computer without human intervention and in the shortest possible time. The paper, which is the main carrier of information, has begun to be located in electronic media. The era of a “paperless” trade is approaching, and EDI is also known as the “paperless trade”.
