锰代谢动力学研究证实吸入锰可绕过血脑屏障直接经嗅觉通路进入脑内嗅球和嗅皮质。与锰的消化道吸收相比较,吸入锰绕过肝脏的首过效应致血锰清除率减慢而易向脑内转运。新生儿、老年人、肝胆疾病患者和缺铁性贫血患者是吸入锰神经毒性潜在的敏感亚群,更易发生锰的脑内转运并产生脑损伤。
Manganese metabolism kinetics studies confirm that inhaled manganese can bypass the blood-brain barrier and directly enter the olfactory bulb and the entorhinal cortex through the olfactory pathway. Compared with the absorption of manganese digestive tract, inhalation of manganese bypass the liver of the first pass caused by blood manganese clearance slowed down and easily transported to the brain. Neonates, the elderly, patients with hepatobiliary disease, and patients with iron-deficiency anemia are potentially sensitive sub-populations of inhaled manganese neurotoxicity and are more prone to intracerebral transport of manganese and brain damage.
