Let’s look first at a set of authoritative figures: At present, among the 1.3 billion people in China, there are 710 million working-class people, of whom 120 million work in enterprises. Of the 120 million workers, about 70 million are skilled workers, and among the 70 million skilled workers in five grades, only 3.5% are senior skilled workers. Huge empty of highly skilled personnel so that we have to seriously reflect on China’s vocational education and personnel training mode. On the one hand, many enterprises can not find suitable senior technicians holding signs of “annual salary of 300,000 yuan” while students who are cultivated by vocational colleges can not find jobs because of their lack of practical skills. Experts point out: China is now “making a big country,” but not “making power.” The dream of a “world factory” is far from ours. The Reasons? The reality has sounded the alarm on the shortage of skilled personnel in service industry and manufacturing industry in our country. The development direction of vocational colleges needs to be adjusted urgently. The reform is imperative.
