The annual nitrate reductase activity (NRA) curve of American ginseng showed two peaks. The peaks and sub-peaks appeared in the middle and late April and early July, respectively. Before the occurrence of the two peaks, it was an important period for nitrogen application. Different light and different pH experiments showed that the 200001x and acidic root environment had higher nitrate reductase (NR) values.
