Hebi section of the central route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project found a number of caves during foundation treatment. The depth of the caves varied from 3 to 15 m under the ground line, with a typical bore diameter of 1.5 to 2 m and a maximum of 4 to 5 m and a length of up to 100 m. Local villagers dig for sand due to building. Artificial digging sand hole in the case of water or the upper load increases, easily lead to landslides, subsidence and other damage, endanger the operation of the main canal security. According to the depth of the artificial sand hole and the relationship with the drainage base plate, different treatment schemes were adopted respectively: grouting treatment was applied to the canal buried deep in the artificial sand tunnel below a certain depth; Shallow, located in the canal above the floor or near the canal section of the canal, using direct digging replacement measures. The treatment plan has now been completed and the main canal has been safe and water-filled.
