Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of white blood cell count and platelet parameters in neonates with asphyxia and its clinical significance. Methods Sixty-eight neonates with asphyxia were divided into mild asphyxia group (n = 30) and severe asphyxia group (n = 38). Another 20 normal neonates were selected as the control group. WBC and platelet parameters The relationship between white blood cell count, platelet count and neonatal asphyxia was compared between groups. Results The WBC, MPV, PDW in the blood were significantly higher than those in the asphyxia group, the control group, the severe asphyxia group and the mild asphyxia group, the white blood cell count and platelet count (PC), platelet mean volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width Both were significantly increased (P <0.01), and platelets decreased significantly (P <0.05). Asphyxia group compared with the normal group, the blood leukocyte count, platelet parameters no significant difference (all P> 0.05). Conclusion The changes of white blood cell count and platelet count in the blood are closely related to the degree of neonatal asphyxia, and can be used as an early warning parameter in the diagnosis of multiple organ injury after asphyxia.
