The aim of this study was to determine the effect of postharvest ethylene sequestration on ripening of fruits with different maturity. The experiment was conducted at the College of Agriculture, Calcutta University, India from May to June 1985 and was repeated in 1986. Bombai variety fruits of the same size and maturity (judged by the flatness and the degree of shade of the tubercle on the pericarp) were selected in the orchard and immediately sent to the laboratory.
