The Meta analysis, published online January 25, by the British medical journal Lancet, showed that folic acid supplementation did not significantly increase or reduce the incidence of cancer in an average of 5 years of treatment. Since the late 1990s, many countries started to promote folic acid-containing foods, such as forced folic acid in the flour to prevent neural tube defects, and some people took folic acid supplements to prevent cancer.
