南昆铁路从南宁经云贵高原抵达昆明,全长863km,相对高差2000m。沿线地形大起大落,工程极艰巨,许多地段为桥隧相连。自晚元古代至新生代各系地层皆有出露,地处扬子准地台西南缘,断褶带分布密集,活动断裂地段长,地震烈度高达9度,地质及地质构造十分复杂,线路穿於其中,地质灾害繁多。特别是途经400km长碳酸岩地段,岩溶极为发育,桥梁、隧道和路基工程均需进行大量特殊工程设计;强膨胀性膨胀岩地段长,路基等工程深受其害。本文是对上述各类地质灾害的选线设计和采取各种有效措施的论述。
