Li Chun was born in Beijing (formerly Beiping) in July 1929. He graduated from the Affiliated High School of Nanjing Jinling University in 1947 and graduated from the Physics Department of Yanjing University in Beijing in 1951. After graduation, he stayed in school and taught.
