As one of the most outstanding American novelists in the twentieth century, William Faulkner’s work shows the social outlook of the South of the United States around the Civil War, covering a variety of social elements. Among them, due to the strong religious atmosphere and distinctive religious figures in the novel “The Light of August”, scholars both at home and abroad explore religious topics, religious prototypes and author’s religious views of the novel from many angles. Compared with the religious studies in other countries, the domestic research on this aspect started later and lacks innovation, but presents a diversified development trend.
