Polygonum multiflorum is a traditional Chinese traditional medicine for nourishing liver and kidney. Many ancient and proprietary Chinese medicines have the flavour of this medicine, and even many modern health care products contain fleece-flower root ingredients. However, modern pharmacological studies have found that the raw material of Radix Polygoni multiflori contains chrysophanol, which has a toxic effect on the body, and is mainly manifested in liver damage. The manifestations include: general malaise, loss of appetite, irritancy, yellow urine, yellow eyes, and skin Yellow staining, bilirubin, and elevated transaminases have also been shown, and studies have also shown that this derivative also stimulates intestinal congestion. Most of these damages are related to improper processing of Radix Polygoni multiflori, excessive doses, or prolonged use. There are also individual differences.
