改革开放十年来,统计科学领域呈现出百花齐放、百家争鸣的繁荣景象,编写出版了大量的统计教材和介绍统计知识及方法的著作。然而,站在科学方法论的更高层次和角度上,研究统计思想、介绍统计逻辑的书籍却很少见到。现在,我国自己培养的首批经济统计学博士袁卫同志,在占有了大量文献资料、从事了深入的研究之后,奉献了一本统计科学方法论的新作《统计推断思想》。这本书填补了我国统计逻辑领域的空白,为广大统计理论和实际工作者掌握统计方法提供了一把钥匙。概率论与数理统计是研究随机现象数量规律性的科学。利用统计方法所做的推断、预测和决策,探索的数量规律性是否可靠?在多大程度上可靠?为什么可靠?都是学习和掌握统计方法所必须回答的问题.一般的统计教科书所回答的是“是否可靠”和“在多大程度上可靠”的问题。应用统计工作者的工作是正确应用统计方法描述和解决社会、科技和经济领域中的实际问题,为各级领导管理决策、为社会各研究
