蚁鼻钱又称鬼脸钱,史书无载,据考证流行于战国中晚期时的楚国。现存最早著录此钱的钱币专著是南宋洪遵的《泉志》,其书上绘有此钱图一品,与现在图谱穿孔在下的方向相反,图为倒置。其释文曰:“旧谱曰:此钱其形上狭下广,背平面凸起,长七分,下阔三分,上锐处可阔一分,重十二铢,面有文如刻镂,不类字,世谓之蚁鼻钱。”此钱旧谱已载,但是《泉志》之前的钱谱都已轶失无存,不知“旧谱”为何谱。清乾嘉时翁树培著《古泉汇考》,引《泉志》旧说,又指出:“……
