苏丹草,原产于非洲北部苏丹地区。我国东北、华北、西北及南方热带、亚热带地区都有栽培。我省在康平、阜新等地栽培试验,表现良好。苏丹草是禾本科高粱属一年生草本植物。须根、根系发达、茎高2～3米,茎粗随密度不同而变化,一般为0.8～2厘米。分蘖能力强,一般20～30个,分蘖期长,可延续整个生长期。叶片宽线形,长60厘米左右,宽4厘米左右。苏丹草喜温不抗寒、耐盐碱、抗旱力强。在年降雨量仅250毫米的地区种植,仍可获得较高产量。发芽最适温度为20～30℃,最低温度为8～
