《塞翁失马》中的“近塞上之人,有善术者”的“者”字,按照文言虚词通常的解释,就是“……的人”。一九八一年湖南人民出版社出版的《中国古代寓言选》便正是把这一句译为“靠近边塞的居民中,有个擅长道术的人”。但往下一读,还有几个“其父”、“其子”。那么这个“塞翁”究竟指谁?是善术者,还是善术者的父亲?“善术者”、“其父”、“其子”,明明是三代人,而原文结尾处却说“此独以跛之故,父子相保”,即只有两代人了。可见这个“者”字不能这样解释。从《淮南子·人间训》的全文来看,《塞翁失
