张希尧是辽宁省西丰县人,1928年考入东北大学,为理工学院化学系学生,曾经担任学生会主席,在同学中威信极高,因而深得校长张学良器重。九一八事变后,张希尧与大批学生流亡到北平。当时,东北大学秘书长介绍给他一份薪水颇丰的工作,但经过深思熟虑之后,他拒绝了,而是全力以赴投身于抵抗日本帝国主义、收复东北失地的斗争中。
Zhang Xiyao is a native of Xifeng County, Liaoning Province. He was admitted to Northeastern University in 1928 and is a student of the Department of Chemistry of the Polytechnic Institute. He served as chairman of the student council and was prestigious among his classmates. After the September 18 Incident, Zhang Xianyao and a large number of students went into exile to Peiping. At that time, the Secretary-General of Northeastern University introduced him to a job with a great salary. After careful consideration, however, he refused and instead he devoted all his efforts to fighting the Japanese imperialists and regaining the lost ground in the Northeast.
