作者认为面波震级的基准应该是全球台网各台站测定面波震级值的平均值。美国国家地震信息中心(NEIC)测报的面波震级MSZ可作为这个基准。在此基准的基础上,作者较全面地比较了中国地震基本台网测定的面波震级MSP和MS7与MSZ的偏差。由于MS7的观测仪器和测定方法都与NEIC的一致,故MS7与MSZ比较一致,对全球地震两者无系统误差。对中国及邻区地震,MS7比MSZ系统高0.08~0.1级。中国的面波震级测定倾向于采用MS7标度。
The authors believe that the criteria for surface wave magnitude should be the average of the surface wave magnitude values measured at stations in the global network. The surface wave MSZ measured by the National Center for Earthquake Information (NEIC) can be used as the benchmark. On the basis of this benchmark, the author compares the surface wave magnitudes MSP, MS7 and MSZ measured by the China National Seismological Network more comprehensively. Because MS7's observational instruments and methods of measurement are consistent with NEIC, MS7 is more consistent with MSZ and has no systematic errors in both earthquakes worldwide. MS7 is 0.08 ~ 0.1 higher than MSZ system for earthquakes in China and its neighboring areas. China's surface wave magnitude measurement tends to use the MS7 scale.
