冈仓天心(1862-1913),原名觉三,是近代日本天才式的思想家、美术教育家。他出生于日本最早的开埠港横滨的一个贵族家庭。冈仓天心的一生和日本明治维新运动的时间大致相当,他在日本努力开国向西方学习的整个民族氛围下成长起来并深受其影响。1880年东京大学毕业后入文部省,1886年被派赴欧美考察西方美术,1889年创设东京美术学校并被任命为校长。其毕生的精力都献给了日本近代美术事业的发展,而日本美术界也给予他崇高的评价——“日本近代美术之父”。
Okamura Tianxin (1862-1913), formerly known as Jue, is a modern Japanese genius thinkers, art educators. He was born in an aristocratic family in Yokohama, the earliest port of call in Japan. Okagura’s life was roughly the same as that of the Meiji Restoration Movement in Japan. He grew up and was deeply influenced by Japan’s nation-wide atmosphere of trying to learn from the West. After graduating from Tokyo University in 1880, he was admitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and was sent to Europe and the United States to study Western art in 1886. In 1889, he founded the Tokyo Fine Arts School and was appointed president. His lifelong energy was devoted to the development of modern Japanese art, and the Japanese fine arts community also gave him a high appraisal - “the father of modern Japanese art.”
