The non-patent names and the patent trade names of drugs often have certain meanings. However, the names transcribed by them in Chinese are often unable to make sense. However, if they are traced back to the original meaning, they can find that each has its own meaning or interesting history. Penicillin is also known as Penicillin. What everyone knows is that the name penicillin means “writing brush.” Why does the penicillin name the brush? This is because the founder of penicillin, Fleming, initially observed the penicillium under a microscope and looked like a brush soaked in water. When the antibiotic was named afterwards, it was named Penicillin by Latin Penicillus with a brush and the Chinese transliteration was penicillin.
