OBJECTIVE: To observe and compare the adverse effects of propofol combined with ketamine on respiratory cycle in infants with short-term anesthesia. Methods: A total of 70 infants and young children undergoing surgical operation were randomly divided into A and B groups. A group received intravenous ketamine and then propofol. Group B received propofol intravenously followed by intravenous injection Ketamine Compound Anesthetic. Observe the respiratory cycle inhibition and adverse reactions. Results: The anesthetic effect was satisfactory in both groups. However, the levels of RR and SpO2 were significantly inhibited at 1 min after compound anesthesia and returned to their normal levels after 5 min. The incidence of pain and writhing in group B were significantly higher than those in group A. CONCLUSIONS: Propofol - ketamine combined with intravenous anesthesia is convenient and feasible for short operation in infants and young children, but attention should be paid to the inhibition of respiratory cycle. However, propofol injection after ketamine anesthesia is more preferable to reduce the incidence of adverse reactions. .
