中国画曾在千年的发展历程中历经多次创新,20世纪初是中国绘画史上最特殊的阶段,东西方思想的碰撞促使了中西绘画艺术的融合,出现了三大相互抗衡的流派,他们之间既互相影响、又相互排斥,推动着绘画艺术的变革,使中国画焕发出了全新的生机和活力,更为中国画今后的发展指明了方向。
