UED:您非常关注环境在设计中担当的角色,这是由何而来?曼尼斯:我认为这种对环境的关注源自我对加纳利群岛自然和景观的体验,在那里,自然和景观是不断争论的话题。对我来说,其实不止是关心,因为那是自然而然的事情,我无法想象自己会设计一个与环境相悖的项目。我总是设法将自己置于景观之中,去理解它并与之相融,不是去破坏,而是要突出景观之美。一切自然景致都值得我们细细体认,我们的解读要无愧于它们的美感。
UED: Where did you get your eyes on the role of environment in design? Manness: I think this concern for the environment stems from my experience with the Canary Islands nature and landscape where nature and landscape Is a topic of constant debate. For me, it’s actually more than caring, because that’s a natural thing, and I can not imagine myself designing a project that is not environmentally friendly. I always try to put myself in the landscape, to understand and blend with it, not to destroy, but to highlight the beauty of the landscape. All natural sceneries deserve our careful consideration. Our interpretations are worthy of their beauty.
