In order to promote the in-depth development of general medical science and technology in the new century and further strengthen the construction of medical academic organizations, the General Assembly Medical Science and Technology Conference and the First Plenary Session of the Medical Science and Technology Committee were held in Xi’an from September 3 to September 5, 2001. At the meeting, Vice Minister Li Shao-ku of General Logistics Department made an important instruction on how to strengthen the assembly medical science and technology work during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period. Director Yang Shanzhi of the General Administration of Health made a report on the work of general assembly medical science and technology. Vice Minister Li fully affirmed the general medical department during the Ninth Five-year Plan period
