国际糖尿病联盟(IDF)名誉会长、日本神户大学名誉教授、日本国际糖尿病教育学习研究所理事长、天津医科大学名誉教授、天津医科大学代谢病医院名誉院长,著名国际糖尿病学专家马场茂明教授于2004年3月27日因病在日本去世,享年78岁。 马场茂明教授是中国人民的好朋友,长期以来为中日两国友好,特别是中日两国人民在医学领域的交流做出了卓越贡献。1985年在中国加入IDF问题上,他坚持一个中国的立场,积极促成了我国中华糖尿病学会加入该组织。上世纪80年代初,他受国际著名内分泌学专家、原天津医学院创始人朱宪彝教授的重托,承担起为天津医科大学培养糖尿病专业人员和在天津开展糖尿病临床科研的任务。1988年,他倡议通过日本政府无偿援助项目在我国成立中国糖尿病中心。为此,马场茂明教授先后十余次来华进行考察和访问;并于1994年任日本政府外务省天津代谢病防治中心项目基本设计代表团副团长,亲自参加该项目设备的选购,使天津代谢病防治中心通过无偿援助所接受的医疗设备达到世界先进水平。此外,在天津医科大学代谢病医院开诊后,他仍不辞辛苦多次亲临医院指导工作,安排医务人员赴日进修和培训,并支持多项有关糖尿病的研究。特别是2003年10月,马场茂明教授不顾重病在身,仍专程来天津医科大学视察、指导工作。

In 1985, when he joined IDF in China, he adhered to the one-China stance and actively contributed to the participation of the Chinese Diabetes Association of China in the organization. In the early 1980s, he was entrusted by Professor Zhu Xiangyi, an internationally renowned endocrinologist and former founder of Tianjin Medical College. He undertook the task of training diabetes professionals in Tianjin Medical University and carrying out clinical research in diabetes in Tianjin. In 1988, he proposed to set up a China Diabetes Center in China through the grants from the Japanese government. To this end, Prof. Maoming has successively visited and visited China for more than ten times. In 1994, he was the deputy head of the basic design delegation of Tianjin Metabolic Disease Prevention and Control Center of Japanese Foreign Ministry. He personally participated in the purchase of the equipment of the project so that Tianjin Metabolic Disease Prevention and Treatment Center through the grant of medical equipment received by the world’s advanced level. In addition, after the start of his visit to the Metabolic Hospital of Tianjin Medical University, he went to many directions in the hospital to arrange medical staff to go to Japan for further study and training. He also supported a number of studies on diabetes. In October 2003, in particular, Prof. Maoming Prof. Ma Ming made a special trip to Tianjin Medical University for inspection and guidance without regard to serious illness.
