The 11th Symposium of the National Symposium on Marxism-Leninism, co-sponsored by Guangxi Normal University, Guangxi Normal University, Liuzhou Federation of Social Sciences and other 10 units, took place in Liuzhou, Guangxi from November 10 to 14, 1990. More than 150 representatives attended the conference and 49 papers were submitted to the conference. The central topics discussed in the conference are: Adhering to and developing Marxism, opposing bourgeois liberalization in the field of literature and art, and Western Marxist aesthetics and literary studies. President Wu Jiemin delivered an opening speech expounding the necessity and long-term nature of upholding and developing Marxism and opposing the bourgeois liberalization in the field of literature and art as well as strictly distinguishing between two different types of contradictions in opposing the bourgeois liberalization.
