北京是中华人民共和国的首都,是全国的政治、文化中心和国际交往的枢纽,也是著名的历史文化名城,与西安、洛阳、开封、南京、杭州并列为中国六大古都。北京位于华北平原西北边缘,东南部为平原,西北部为燕山、太行山山脉。全市面积一万六千多平方公里,温带季风性气候,四季分明,气候宜人。北京是2008年奥运会主办城市。
As the capital of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing is the political and cultural center and the hub of international exchanges in the country. It is also a famous historical and cultural city. Along with Xi’an, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Nanjing and Hangzhou, Beijing ranks as the six ancient capitals in China. Beijing is located on the northwestern margin of the North China Plain, southeast of the plains, northwest Yanshan, Taihang Mountains. The city’s area of over 16,000 square kilometers, temperate monsoon climate, four seasons, a pleasant climate. Beijing is the host city for the 2008 Olympic Games.
