April 26 this year, is the seventh “World Intellectual Property Day.” Towards the end of April, “intellectual property” began to appear frequently in various media in the form of words, sounds and images. This bustling continued into the May Day and was replaced by the words “Golden Week.” In the May issue of this issue, “Protecting Intellectual Property Rights” is undoubtedly the most dazzling term. However, the flashing of these words is not a high-profile call and advocacy. It is not a overwhelming crusade and defense. It is instead a case of ten IPR infringement cases seized by China Customs with their experience and wisdom. The top 10 cases culminated in the efforts of China’s customs officers in protecting intellectual property rights throughout 2006. This effort stems from a high sense of responsibility throughout 365 days, which stems from a faith unrelated to bustling. At the same time, the Top Ten Cases also made the best interpretation of the connotation of “World Intellectual Property Day”: establishing the awareness of respecting knowledge, advocating science and protecting intellectual property rights and creating a legal environment for encouraging knowledge innovation and protecting intellectual property rights. In China’s customs, every day is “World Intellectual Property Day.”
