武威是全国小麦丰产县之一,它的特点表现在高产、稳产和连年接近直线的上升。解放前武威县人民受地主及马匪的勒索,农民全部收成50—80%被地主和官僚夺去,贫苦人民缓和终日劳动,仍不免吃糠嚥菜,作物产量很低。解放后在党的正确领导下,发挥了群众生产的热情,自1950年起,各种作物产量逐年提高,人民生活不断的改善,下表是武威小麦和其他粮食作物逐年增长的情况。
Wuwei is one of the bumper crop counties in the country, characterized by its high yield, stable yield and near-straight-line rise in recent years. Before the liberation, the people in Wuwei County were extorted by the landlords and horse bandits. 50-80% of the peasants’ entire harvest was taken by landlords and bureaucrats. The poor people ease the all-day labor and still can not afford to eat bran and pharynx for crop production. After the liberation, under the correct leadership of the party, the enthusiasm of the mass production has been exerted. Since 1950, the output of various crops has been increasing year by year and the living standards of the people have been continuously improved. The following table shows the year-by-year growth of wheat and other food crops in Wuwei.
