传统的产品开发方法变得越来越不能胜任今天的需求，产品开发中那种连续的、严格分工的泰勒工作方式日益表现出其不足之处。这里介绍的快速产品开发（ＲＰＤ）模式提供了一种集成的方法，它能够保证整体的考虑，兼顾组织、经济和技术的观点。由于其中一些原理目前还缺少广泛的实际应用和评价，作者在这里只是提供了一个用ＲＰＤ模式重组产品开发过程的实例。
The traditional methods of product development become less and less capable of today’s needs. The continuous and strict division of labor in product development increasingly shows its shortcomings. The Rapid Product Development (RPD) model presented here provides an integrated approach that assures holistic consideration of organizational, economic, and technical perspectives. Due to the fact that some of these principles are currently lacking in a wide range of practical applications and evaluations, the authors here provide an example of how to reorganize the product development process using the RPD model.
