“相,月名。《尔雅释天》:七月为相。”农历七月又称相月。于是,相展1990的展期便确定在1990年的农历七月间(8月20日—9月18日)举行。这是一次关于城市空间的展览,是在不断地变化展厅空间的过程中完成的。取名为“相”,是因为它除了月名之外还涵括着更多的意义,其中的一些则指示了我们对于空间感受、理解与思考和我们举办这次展览的目的。相:省视也;交也;质也;占也;状貌也;赞也;使也;助也;佐也;导也;劝也;择也;治也;犹形色也;月名;星名;……。仅《中华大字典》中对“相”这一名词的解释就不下50余种。可以这样讲,城市中的人们是生活在一个相同而又不同的空间之中,相同(注意这里又出现了一个“相”字)是指城市的外表形貌,不同是指城市人的不同感受。在这里,每个人都会自觉或不自觉地寻找着适合于自己的空间,传统的或现代的,大的或小的,激动的或宁静的……。相展的主要意图之一
