在香石竹病毒的鉴定与香石竹进出口时的口岸检疫中,石竹科植物高雪轮 Silencearmeria 常被用作香石竹蚀环病毒 Carnati-on Etched Ring Virus,CaERV 的灵敏的鉴别寄主。在高雪轮上产生系统症状认为是鉴定香石竹蚀环病毒的重要依据之一,上海园林科研所与上海生化研究所合作曾经以在高雪轮上产生局部褪绿斑,以后产生系统褪绿斑及叶片扭曲等症状,并结合电子显微镜下的粒体形态观察结果为依据成功地从荷兰进口的香石竹小苗中检测出了香石竹蚀环病
