Objective To understand whether a ginseng product has protective function against animal alcoholic liver injury. Methods After the rats were given oral administration of SD for 30 days, the rats in each group were given 50% ethanol by oral gavage except for the negative control group, and then serum samples were collected for detection of VLDL and triglyceride (TG) content, and histopathological examination of the liver, while observing the impact on body weight and liver weight and liver body ratio. Results The levels of triglyceride (TG) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) in the low and middle dose groups were significantly lower than those in the model control group (P <0.01, P <0.01, P <0.01, P <0.01). The fat staining scores of low and middle dose groups were significantly lower than those of model control group (P <0.01). Conclusion Under the experimental conditions, a certain ginseng product has an auxiliary protective effect on animal alcoholic liver injury.
