在广西西南的左江流域绵延200多公里的陡峭崖壁上,壮族祖先留下了许多气势磅礴的崖壁画,花山崖壁画产生于战国到汉代,是前后历经700多年陆陆续续画上去的。对于作画的内容,有着战争、庆功、语言符号、祭祀等多种不同的看法,近年来,多数学者认为与原始宗教仪式有关。虽然花山崖壁画分布的范围广,画面数量多,但内容具有高度的相似性。在画面中,多数画面中心是一个正面人像,腰佩环首刀、类似首领的高大人物形象
