本文针对科技查新工作还没有被广大科技工作者所普遍了解和重视的现状，从科技查新促进科技管理和科技信息工作的有机结合；为科研选题提供决策依据，避免科研工作的低水平重复和浪费；为科研成果鉴定获取可靠信息，为保证审定质量奠定基础；充分发挥信息资源的作用，促进科技信息业的全面发展等四方面阐述了科技查新工作在科研中的重要作用
