The TEFAF report is a report by Dr. Clare MacAndrew, an art market economics expert, who has completed his analysis of the global economic turmoil of 2008-2009. Dr. MacAndrew not only makes extensive use of statistics but also analyzes art dealers and collectors. She concluded that while some segments of the art market were affected by the global economic crisis, the rest were far more optimistic than expected. Compared to the boom in 2007, the overall transaction volume dropped sharply in 2009, however, it still surpassed the art market in any one year prior to 2006. This article is an excerpt from chapters such as the TEFAF report by Dr. Mike Andrews, “Today’s Global Art Market,” “Focusing on the Nation,” and “Economic Impact.”
