古色古香的西校门原名校友门,是原燕京大学校友于1926年集资修建的。作为北大的门面,西校门十分得体地体现了北大端庄、丰厚和深邃的一面。镌刻在门檐上的毛泽东手书“北京大学”,遒劲中透着隽美和飘逸,不禁令人回想起当年从湖南来北京寻求真理的那个北大图书馆里的年轻人。而西校门墙上的一块铜牌则吸引了从此经过的每一个人。世界著名跨国汽车公司不仅无偿捐资北大的公益事业,还纷纷在北大设立以公司命名的奖学金,从另一个侧面反映了这些汽车公司对北大的钟爱。
The quaint Western School Gate formerly known as the alumni gate was originally funded by the original Yenching University alumni in 1926. As the facade of Peking University, the Western School Gate reflects the dignified, generous and profound aspects of Peking University. Engraved on the threshold of Mao Zedong’s handwriting book “Peking University”, the ambiguous beauty and gracefulness in the hustle and bustle of the mind, can not help but recall the young man in the Peking University Library who went to Beijing to seek truth from Hunan. A bronze medal on the west school gate attracted everyone who passed by. The world-famous multinational automobile company not only donated free public welfare undertakings to Peking University, but also set up scholarships named after the company in Peking University. From another aspect, these car companies reflect the love of Peking University.
