抗日战争胜利后,1945年12月,宋庆龄在重庆宣布将《保卫中国同盟》改名为中国福利基金会,随后回到上海,开始了基金会时期的工作。宋庆龄运用她在国内外的崇高声誉和影响,积极争取国际人士支持中国福利基金会的工作。她不但在上海多次发表讲话,还频频同国际人士信函往来,以自己的全部时间和精力致力于中国人民的福利事业。这里选译的一些信函,就是当年宋庆龄为解放区募集医药物资,为开展儿童福利和救济事业募集捐款和物资,不辞辛劳地同旅美华侨联系的真实记录。这些信函,对于研究和了解宋庆龄的生平及其创办的中国福利基金会,无疑是很重要的史料。今年1月27日,正值宋庆龄诞辰100周年,特予公布,以资纪念。本辑史料由瞿丽珍翻译,李雪云校对。
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, in December 1945 Soong Ching Ling announced in Chongqing that he would rename the Foundation for the Defense of the Chinese Alliance to the China Welfare Foundation and then return to Shanghai to start the work of the Foundation. Soong Ching Ling, with her lofty reputation and influence both at home and abroad, actively sought international support for the foundation of China Welfare Foundation. Not only has she delivered many speeches in Shanghai, she has also frequently exchanged letters with international personnel and devoted her entire time and energy to the welfare of the Chinese people. Some of the letters chosen for translating here are the true records of Soong Ching Ling’s efforts to raise funds for medical supplies in the Liberated Areas and to raise donations and supplies for the welfare and relief of children in the current year. He worked tirelessly to contact overseas Chinese in the United States. These letters are undoubtedly important historical materials for studying and understanding Soong Ching Ling’s life and the founding of the China Welfare Foundation.
