Maybe for the reason, the circle and thinking of shrewd businessmen in Wenzhou show contradictory characteristics: they are both open and strangely close. The closeness has the result that the businessmen who had advantages of first movers are now gradually lagging behind as the market becomes mature in China and more advanced business theories and practices begin to spread in the country. It is not the case that the businessmen do not know that. However, the most common action most of them only know to take is extravagant investment in eduction for their children.Among the businessmen, there are also a small group of entrepreneurs who are fighting hard to free them selves from the thinking becoming more and more rigid. Their knowledge of modern management and other areas has been greatly increased. Perhaps, “saying farewell to the old Wenzhou” is a necessary step for the city to become a real modern city, and for the businessmen to get greater successes. It may also be a driving force to making local firms bigger and upgrading local industries.
