初次来到南卡罗莱纳州的科尔克学院(Coker College)是两年前来求职面试的时候。这所建于1908年的私立学院给人的第一印象是典雅和闲适。学校的主要建筑都是端庄、对称的格鲁吉亚风格。走进语言文学系所在的古老大楼,那厚重的木门、淡黄色的壁纸与里面带有回廊的上下双层的小剧场都很容易把人带入18世纪末、19世纪初的联想。学生餐厅的宽敞与豪华更令我诧异———那屋顶悬挂着的一个个巨大的吊灯更使人有进入贵族舞厅
Coker College, which first came to South Carolina, was looking for a job interview two years ago. The private college built in 1908 gives the first impression of elegance and leisure. The school’s main buildings are dignified, symmetrical Georgian style. Into the Department of language and culture where the ancient building, the heavy wooden doors, yellow wallpaper and inside with a cloister up and down double theater is very easy to bring people into the late 18th century, early 19th century association. I was amazed by the spaciousness and luxury of the student restaurant --- a huge chandelier hanging from the roof makes it even more possible to enter the noble ballroom
