人们都称他为“沙漠王”。是他,把身陷沙漠的中英塔克拉玛干联合探险队带出了险境。他是一幅活地图,对罗布泊、阿尔金山、塔里木和准噶尔盆地的众多荒漠了如指掌,国内外的许多探险队都以能请到他作向导为荣。有人说余纯顺的遇难与他有关。有人说他的晚年为了挣钱不择手段……凡此种种,如今他已经无法为自己申辩,但无论如何,人们无法否认的一点是:他是一位伟大的探险家。
