“虽然现在没有人知道他,但他的成果将影响每一个中国人”周晓东的偶像是袁隆平。水稻之父用事实回答了谁来养活中国人的问题,而“无名小辈”周晓东盯上了小麦。用他的话来说,对于水资源缺乏的中国,小麦的意义更大。2006年11月,在国家农业部专家关于中国小麦现状、发展及科技创新问题的报告中,周晓东和他的“铁秆”小麦榜上有名。
