The high concentration of population in one place, coupled with the corresponding increase in the significance of these places, is called urban primacy. In other words, a fairly large city continues to grow above and beyond the rural areas and other cities around it. This situation is extremely common in all countries of the Third World. The contemporary Southeast Asian urban system provides a typical example of urban development with such urban priorities and inequalities. In a few big cities, the degree of inequality in terms of population size, status and socio-economic far exceeds that of other cities and towns. The degree of imbalance is also quite obvious. The purpose of this article has two points. The first is to explain the historical roots of urban aggression and intra-urban inequality in Southeast Asia, namely, the causes and processes of an imbalanced urbanization. This article will describe the historical development of this urbanization in global political and economic coordinates
