The effect of environmental light on plant growth is mediated,at least in part,by the hormones gibberellins(GAs).The current model is that light signaling affects the GA pathway by transcrip-tional regulation of GA metabolism genes and by degradation of the negative regulators DELLA proteins by COP1.Two new studies provide evidence showing that the blue light photore-ceptor CRY1 directly regulates GA signaling.
