定语从句也叫关系从句,是形容词性从句,用来限制描绘说明主句中某一名词或代词(有时可以说明整个主句或主句中的一部分)而起定语作用的从句。定语从句就其与先行词的关系可分为限制性和非限制性两种定语从句。th at、which作关系词,都可以引导定语从句,which既可引导限制性定语从句也可以引导非限制性定语从句,that则不能引导非限制性定语从句,词性上,that、which都可以作关系代词,就语法功能而言,在that、which引导的定语从句中除起连接作用外,都要在定语从句中充当一定的句子成分。
