第一届中国北京国际美术双年展,在战胜“非典”之后如期举办,令人快慰。 北京国际艺术双年展,是举世瞩目的艺术界盛事。中国政府和中国美术家协会,敞开胸襟,热情作东,邀请世界各地艺术家汇聚北京,向世界提供一个定期进行艺术交流展示的平台,把中国与世界艺术的交流活动推向了新的阶段。双年展是世界上流行多年的艺术展示、组织、交流、推广形式,在中国的某些省市也已经成功地采用延续了相当长一段时间,积累了不少经验;但是,从规模上说,北京国际双年展无疑是空前的。有幸应邀参与这次盛会,我希望第一届双年展同时举办的“北京国际美术双年展研讨会”,也能够成为中国与世界艺术批评界进行定期交流的一个场所,成为中国与世界艺术对话的一个公开论坛。
The first Beijing International Art Biennial of China, which was held as scheduled after the victory of “SARS,” was very gratifying. Beijing International Art Biennale is a world-renowned art event. The Chinese government and the Chinese Artists Association are open-minded and enthusiastic to host the East. Artists from all over the world are invited to come together in Beijing to provide the world a platform for regular exchange of art and exhibitions and push the exchange of art in China and the world to a new stage. Biennale is a popular art exhibition, organization, exchange and promotion form in the world. It has also been successfully adopted in some provinces and cities of China for quite a long time and gained a lot of experience. However, in terms of scale Beijing International Biennale is undoubtedly unprecedented. I am honored to be invited to this event. I hope the “Biennial Symposium on Beijing International Art Biennale” held simultaneously by the first Biennale can also serve as a venue for regular exchanges between China and the world art critics and become a venue for the exchange of ideas between China and the world A public forum for dialogue.
