同志们、朋友们: 今天,我们在这里举行座谈会,纪念党中央、国务院批准实施自然科学基金制15周年和国家自然科学基金委员会成立10周年。我代表党中央、国务院向基金会的同志们和在基金资助下取得成果的科技工作者表示热烈的祝贺！并借此机会,向所有热心自然科学基金工作并为这项基金的建立和发展作出贡献的老科学家、各界人士和海外朋友表示衷心的感谢！ 国家自然科学基金设立以来,特别是基金委员会成立后,认真贯彻执行党和国家的方针政策,努力开展基金工作,取得了显著的成绩。
Comrades and friends: Today, we hold a forum here to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Central Party Committee and the State Council's approval of the implementation of the Natural Science Foundation and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the National Science Foundation. On behalf of the Central Party Committee and the State Council, I extend my warm congratulation to the comrades of the Foundation and to the scientists and technicians who have made achievements with the funds. And I would like to take this opportunity to express my heart-felt thanks to all the scientists, people from all walks of life and overseas friends who have worked for all the enthusiastic natural sciences funds and contributed to the establishment and development of this fund. Since the founding of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and especially after the founding of the Foundation Committee, it has made remarkable achievements in conscientiously implementing the party's and state's guidelines and policies and in its efforts to carry out the fund's work.
