电镜观察研究表明,在大液泡小孢子时期,小麦药壁表皮细胞含有发达的线体和高尔基体,开始产生嗜锇颗粒。药室内壁细胞具活力旺盛的叶绿体和丰富的细胞器。在花粉粒时期,药壁表皮细胞内充满嗜锇颗粒。药室内壁和花粉囊内也有少量与表皮细胞内相同的嗜锇颗粒。此外,在U氏体、绒毡层膜、花粉粒周围有大量的与药壁表皮细胞同质的小嗜锇颗粒。花粉成熟时,这些颗粒又减少。据此推测,药壁表皮、药室内壁在花粉发育过程中,尤其是发育后期有提供营养的作用。
