The long-term large-scale digitization of British Library generated a large amount of audio and video resources. Since most of these projects are funded by foreign funds and cooperated with foreign organizations, the resources and metadata generated by these libraries are often scattered in different departments. The metadata The existence and structure of the format is very different, which brings great inconvenience to the search and use, so cross-database retrieval is imperative. While implementing standardization, the British Library allowed for sufficient flexibility in the features and services of each collection. One of the main principles they followed was that if the data was created outside the British Library System, the system should have the capability to generate and export basic metadata records in a format that is compatible with at least one of the standards supported by the British Library , The minimum requirement for metadata recording is to be consistent with the BL Application Profile (B-LAP). B-LAP is an XML-based application that is based on core elements of Dublin’s metadata. In particular, this article discusses strategies to leverage Dublin Core Metadata Application Scenarios to support retrieval and how application schemas can be used to control the diverse metadata formats that arise in digitizing resources and to provide a high-level, On the provision of interoperability. This article also describes how the system is built and how to support retrieval across a variety of different databases.
