In order to control the continued seepage at the Gem Dam, Southern California Edison Power Company (SCE) authorized the laying of a layer of geomembrane on the upstream face of the dam. The results show that the seepage through the dam has been reduced by 90% since the geomembrane impervious cover was laid 3 years ago. The structural defects and complicated environmental problems of Baoshi Lake dam are introduced, the design scheme of dam repair, the laying of geomembrane and the benefits brought by dam repair are introduced.
